Police are appealing for information after a crash on the M1 last Thursday.

At about 2.20pm a man driving a silver Vauxhall Corsa on the M1 northbound near junction 31 was in collision with a large blue Volkswagen LT panel van, which then left the scene.

Police believe the collision caused the Corsa to overturn, coming to rest upside down on the central reservation.

The 29-year-old driver, from Nottingham, was taken to Rotherham Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and discharged. The driver of the van, a man from the Rotherham area, was arrested and is now on police bail.

The northbound carriageway and one lane of the southbound carriageway were closed for a short time.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
