Pillard House security move

RESIDENTS of a sheltered accomodation block in Gainsborough have been told they will be getting increased security following anti-social behaviour in the area.

Landlord Acis Housing wrote to tenants of Pillard House on 4th November, informing them that locks would be changed, property marked and the possibility of installing CCTV was even being examined.

The news came less than a week after one resident turned to the Standard for exposure following a repeat burglary.

Peter Jackman, 71, said he felt he had nowhere else to turn, thinking that coverage might encourage Acis to act, later adding that he had been proved right.

”Acis have now given us a notice saying they’re holding a community meeting, and they’ll be marking all the property” he said.

”This is why I came to the paper.”

Lincolnshire Police held a property marking session on Tuesday 10th October, before joining representatives from Acis Housing to discuss concerns with residents the following day.

In a letter to tenants, community safety manager Claire Glasby informing residents of the steps being taken to make the area secure.

”Recently, there have been a number of security concerns at Pillard House and I would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that Acis, along with Lincolnshire Police are working together to improve the security at the scheme,” she said, before detailing the plans.

”I hope I have assured you that ACIS and the agencies are working together to find a safe place to live,” she added
