‘Our doors are open to everyone’

THE NEW headteacher at Ranby House Preparatory School wants Worksop families to give his school a fair look when deciding on the best education for their children.

Recently-appointed Christian Pritchard doesn’t want his school to be seen as a place for the select few and has vowed to ‘open the doors to all children of all abilities’.

The school, which can cost up to £5,600 a term, offers a wide-ranging curriculum, specialist after-school clubs, boarding and three meals a day.

“I think our school is exceptional value for money,” said Mr Pritchard. “We are not creaming off the top two per cent of the population.”

“Children will have a unique experience here. We want to allow as many children as possible access to our school and the opportunities we provide.”

The school, which caters for children from the ages of three to 13, boasts 60 acres of outdoor facilities including six rugby pitches, four hockey pitches, football pitches and a nine-hole putting green on its grounds.

Its partnership with Worksop College sees students progress at the end of Year 8 to the college up to the age of 18.

“We want families to stay with the school for as long as possible. We offer a unique and very rich educational experience,” said Mr Pritchard.

“We offer a broad range of opportunities including a programme in ICT where students can design their own games and older students have the chance to create Apps for portable devices.”

ICT is a subject close to his heart, as it was the subject he first began teaching after completing his training in York.

Ranby House is the 38-year-old’s third headship after previously spending time in state education, Dubai, South East Asia and Europe teaching children of all ages and backgrounds.

“I wanted an adventure abroad. I was free and single back then,” added the now married father-of-two, whose children also attend Ranby House.

“Last year we decided to head for home to be closer to our families. I found the school very warm and welcoming and I hope to continue that feeling.”
