MUSIC lovers in Gainsborough took part in an exhibition encouraging them to learn more about the art last weekend.

Visitors to Gainsborough’s Bend in the River gallery had the opportunity to take part in the Looking, Listening, Learning show, a part of the Learning Revolution Festival organised by Convivium Music, which taught participants about the enjoyment of music.

Convivium Music director Viv McVeagh said the event gave many the chance to try out something different.

”We’re delighted to bring The Learning Revolution Festival to Gainsborough,” she said. ”The Festival will give everyone locally the opportunity to try something new and to enjoy the benefits of learning for pleasure, which can involve anything from being part of a local sports’ team or book club, to visiting museums in the area or researching something of interest online.”

The event was designed to be similar to the regular Convivium Music Listening Group which meets monthly in Lincoln, by introducing participants to the skills and enjoyment of active listening, particularly to classical music, for newcomers to the genre.

As it was set in an art gallery, fine art was used as a starting point to ‘transfer’ appreciation from one art medium to the other.
