A WHITWELL man turned his wrath on police officers called to a domestic dispute, a court heard.

Police arrived at Paul Knowles’ Station Road home just before midnight on 26th August.

“He was swearing and calling them offensive names. He was clearly drunk and was arrested,” Lynn Manning, prosecuting, told Chesterfield magistrates.

Knowles, 29, admitted using threatening or insulting words or behaviour and breaching a conditional discharge.

“His partner was arrested for damage and that’s why police initially attended the scene - it was not because of his actions,” said Annette Thomas, defending.

He was fined £52, with £85 costs. The conditional discharge remains in place.
