Investigation into forest fire

An investigation is underway into a forest fire near Gainsborough.

Firefighters from Gainsborough, Saxilby, Humberside and Notts were called to Peackcock Wood, at Laughton Forest just after 6pm on Friday.

For several hours they battled the blaze using six hose reels, shovels and water backpacks to extinguish the flames.

About 300m by 50m of woodland was severely damaged.

The fire service said an inspection was due to take place on Saturday.
