Headbutt lands teen in court
In Court
A CLOWNE teenager smashed a hair salon window with a headbutt after his parenting skills were criticised, a court heard.
David Greatorex fell through the window, suffering a wound to his arm that required surgery.
A doorman at Evolution bar in Chesterfield saw Greatorex ‘mumbling and growling’ at people before resting his head against the window of Holywell Hair and Beauty.
“He then headbutted the window with such force that it went through and he stumbled forward through it,” Becky Mahon, prosecuting, told Chesterfield magistrates.
CCTV footage revealed that Greatorex, 19, had earlier repeatedly kicked a window at nearby Pinewood letting agency causing it to shatter.
Greatorex, of Westlea, Clowne, admitted two charges of damaging property. He was given a one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £788 compensation.
His solicitor, Annette Thomas, said he was a shy, quiet person who had been ‘dragged into town’ by a pal.
He saw his ex-partner’s brother in Evolution and asked how the child was doing. The other man’s friend then made derogatory comments about Greatorex’s ability to be a dad.
“He is not allowed to see the child. He would like to but his ex-partner prevents it. He was in drink and he kicked out at the window. He then used his head to break a window. He quickly lost quite a lot of blood and he is grateful for the help he received from door staff and emergency services,” said Mrs Thomas.
