Young patients on the Children’s Ward at Bassetlaw Hospital will be entertained for hours thanks to a generous donation from ASDA.

The ward was the chosen charity at ASDA’s store in Gateford, for August after customers at the supermarket voted for it.

Staff held sponsored walks, cake sales, raffles and non-uniform days to raise money to buy presents for the children.

Charlene White and Carmel Smith from the store visited the hospital to present staff with their donations.

Carmel said: “We would like to thank everyone who was involved with the fundraising and also the general public for nominating this ward. It is such a worthy cause to support.”
