GAPA to be boosted by car wash scheme
A CHARITY car wash by Gainsborough youngsters aims to raise cash for a kids playground in the town.
Members of the ‘Streetforce2’ project will wash cars on Saturday 23rd May, with all proceeds going to Gainsborough Adventure Playground Association (GAPA).
From 2pm to 5pm, car owners can pay 2 to get their motors clean at the GAPA on Park Springs Road.
The police, West Lindsey Council and West Lincolnshire Community Safety Partnership set up the ‘Streetforce 2’ project to tackle anti-social behaviour amongst Gainsborough youths.
PC Ian Shaw said: “The Streetforce project has proved to be an effective way of making a difference and in this case, the young people involved will have the opportunity to raise money for the local community.”
PCSO Penny Smith said: “Not only will this offer alternative activities for these youngsters, but it will also achieve one of the core principles of Neighbourhood Policing, which is to strengthen the positive relationship between police and youth.”
“We hope this will move the local community’s opinion of youths to a more favourable one as they see them getting involved in projects in their area in a positive way.”
