Gainsborough Standard reporter Chantal is the best in the country
Gainsborough Standard reporter Chantal Spittles has picked up a prestigious award for her work.
Chantal beat 200 other journalists to claim the Best News Interview Paper Award from the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), for her remarkable efforts in her recent NCE exams.
The award is sponsored by the Society of Editors, and her work was judged as being the best in the country.
To reward her achievements The Society of Editors will present Chantal with a cheque for 250.
"It was enough just to hear that I had passed my NCE after seven hellish weeks of waiting for the results," said the 29-year-old.
"But to find out I've won the award for the best interview is just the icing on the cake - which I'll definitely have to buy now for the office!"
"It's been a hard two years at the Standard but I couldn't have done it without the support and encouragement of my colleagues. It means a lot."
Standard editor George Robinson said: "I am sure everybody will want to join me in congratulating Chantal on this absolutely fantastic achievement."
