A charity football match between two local firms raised more than £700 for a hospice centre in Gainsborough.

Eminox beat Amp Rose 3-0 in a fundraising game that scored £730 for The George Henderson Lodge, part of the St Barnabas Hospice.

The Hospice provides free care and support to people who are terminally ill.

Referee Phil Olivant said: “We raised money for St Barnabas Hospice because the support they provided to my fiancee’s father, Roy Jupp, was phenomenal.”

Following the day’s success, sales director at Amp Rose Andy Mann said that his company will be doing more fundraising events in the future and hoped to make it an annual event.

The money, which will be used to continue Hospice services in Gainsborough, was raised through large donations from both companies and contributions from staff, players and spectators.

Assistant fundraising manager Kay Chambers thanked both companies for supporting the Hospice centre and said: “It’s all about local people helping other local people.”

Clinical team leader Sarah Coleman said: “Many people in the area are affected and touched by the services we provide. We are here to help people live life well.”

Hospicare is a charity that provides day therapy in their centres from initial diagnoses and home care for patients in their last 16 weeks of life.

Eminox designs and manufactures low emission exhaust systems and Amp Rose, also based in Gainsborough, supplies machines for the confectionery industry.
