Fun packed activities at Scouting weekend
Members from the 22nd Rotherham based in Dinnington enjoy activities at the camp
SCOUTS from Dinnington and Wales joined more that 1,200 youngsters from across the county last weekend at a special celebratory camp.
Members of the 22nd Rotherham, based in Dinnington, and 11th Rotherham, based in Wales, enjoyed a range of activities including arhcery and circus skills at the Synergise event, at Hesley Wood.
A traditional camp fire took place on Saturday evening which was followed by a talent show. There was also a Mad Hatter’s tea party officially marking the tenth anniversary of Explorer and Networking Scouting in South Yorkshire.
Each district provided its own range of activities and challenges, and exhibitions were also provided by a number of external organisations.
Andy Marsden, assistant county commissioner for development, South Yorkshire Scouts said the weekend showed the varied activities available through Scouting.
He added: “It was terrific to see so many young people take part in the camp, meet others in the county.”
“Camps like this can help to forge and build friendships that can last a lifetime and it really helped to show scouting at its very best.”
