Footy success for two town schools
Footballers from Parish Church School in Gainsborough took part in the Lincolnshire Schools 7 a side tournament G130212-3a
Two footy-mad schools have been making sure that Gainsborough is being well represented in the Lincolnshire area. Last weekend, both Lea Frances Olive Anderson School and Parish Church Primary School made the journey to Sleaford to compete in the Lincolnshire Football Primary Schools seven-a-side finals. Parish Church teacher John Anderson said: “On a freezing cold Saturday, the Parish girls went first and enjoyed the experience of playing on a 3G pitch and finished as the fifth best team in the whole of Lincolnshire.” Not to be outdone, Lea followed them onto the pitch in the Small Schools event and played some superb football under the floodlights.
“They came a very creditable fourth place and can be very proud of their performance.”
He continued: “Parish girls felt they had had got better with each game and were very pleased with their certificates. Lea knew that they had played some fantastic schools and felt with a little more luck they would have finished even higher.”
Mr Anderson added: “Both schools were commended on their effort and sportsmanship.”
