THE ENVIRONMENT Agency have issued a flood warning for the River Trent in Gainsborough and surrounding villages today (Thursday 27th December
Heavy and continued rainfall has also closed off the toll bridge in Dunham-on-Trent, just a few miles down stream.
A spokesman from the Environment Agency told the Standard: “The river levels along the Trent are very high and they are tidal.”
“They are expected to remain high until at least lunchtime tomorrow (Friday 28th December).”
He added: “A flood warning is in place, and we’ll be monitoring the situation very closely.”
With more heavy rain forecast , Gainsborough residents are advised to take care in the event of flooding.
