FLOOD UPDATE: Alert remains around Gainsborough - Dunham Bridge still closed (Wednesday 2nd January)

A FLOOD alert is in place in Gainsborough and surrounding villages along the River Trent after another spell of wet weather.
The Trent burst its banks and flooded parts of Dunham-on-Trent - closing the toll bridge for more than a week.
Large areas of land are also under water around the Torksey Lock and Knaith areas.
While the Met Office says that the weather will be drier towards the end of this week, the tidal flow of the Trent still creates a flood risk that will remain throughout the week.
The Environment Agency says that the following areas may be affected by flood water: Church Laneham to Rampton Road, Collingham, Sutton on Trent to Normanton, low lying roads from Low Marnham to High Marnham, North Clifton, Main Street from Laneham to Church Laneham, Sturton Road at Cottam Littton, Grassthorpe Road between Grassthorpe and Sutton on Trent, the A1133 Newark to Torksey road between Besthorpe and Girton, the A57 Markham Moor to Lincoln Road Between Dunham Bridge and Newton on Trent, the A156 Torksey to Gainsborough Road and Lea.
The level at the Torksey river gauge has been over six metres.
An Environment Agency spokesman saidd: “Tidal levels remain high with the possibility of further flooding on the peak of the high tide with Gainsborough gauge expected to peak at 4.8 metres.”
Lincs County Council is also warning motorists to respect road closure signs after witnessing drivers removing or driving past signage to drive through deep water on flooded roads.
