Safe@Last patron Lucy Pargenter raised money for the chariity on the All Star Family Fortunes Christmas Special

Safe@LAST is celebrating after Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter won £825 for the charity on the Christmas Edition of All Star Family Fortunes.

Transmitted on 27th December on ITV1, team captain and Safe@Last patron Lucy, was joined by fellow Emmerdale cast members competing against an all star Daybreak Team led by Aled Jones.

The team did extremely well but were pipped to the post by the Daybreak Team who went on to play big money.

Safe@Last works with vulnerable children and young people who are at risk through running away or being thrown out of the place they live.

The Dinnington-based charity provides a range of services from prevention to crisis intervention including a 24 hour helpline, one to one support, a preventative education programme and a detached street work project.

It also provides the only refuge in England for children and young people aged 16 and under.

Safe@Last head of communications and funding Clare Sherratt said: “Receiving this donation is an absolutely wonderful way to start 2013.”

“We are very grateful to Lucy for her loyalty and continuing support of Safe@Last, she never forgets about us and we feel very privileged that she is our patron.”

“In addition to the donation from the show, being mentioned on national TV is fantastic for raising awareness of Safe@Last and the young people we support.”

Following the mention, the charity has seen an ‘astonishing increase’ in the hits on its website, followers on Twitter and Facebook.

Clare added: “At a time when we are extremely concerned about funding for some of our projects coming to an end, this donation will help us to continue to educate young people about the risks and dangers of running away and work to keep them safe.”
