Drunk hits out in row

A MISTERTON man who assaulted two policemen after attempting to break into his own home has been spared jail.

Drunk Jonathan Cooper, 42, from Hillsyde Avenue, lost his key in the early hours of the 13th August after a row with his girlfriend and brother.

And after a neighbour called police an agitated Cooper grabbed one of the officers by the crotch and kicked the accompanying sergeant, causing both discomfort.

David Verity, defending, said the act was ‘out of character’ for his client.

Magistrates sentenced Cooper to 134 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, with supervision requirements and an order to pay £100 in compensation to each of the officers involved.
