A CARER from Harworth received a 12 month driving ban after admitting drink driving.

Robert Kent, 57, of Greenwood Avenue, was stopped by police on 23rd of October and he failed a breatherlyser test.

Tony Hadfield, defending, said Kent had been driving his van home when he stopped at a pub and drank two pints of John Smith’s beer.

“He thought he would be ok,” he told Worksop magistrates.

Police said he smelled strongly of alcohol and was slurring his speech.

Kent, a full-time carer for his partner, tested 99 mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood. The limit is 80mgs.

Magistrates ordered he must pay £215 in fines and costs, and banned him from driving for 12 months. The ban will be reduced if he completes a drink driver rehabilitation course.
