Dinnington man killed in Maltby pub named

The Dinnington man who died in a suspected fight in a Maltby pub on Sunday night has been named locally as Rob Hurdley.

South Yorkshire Police launched a murder investigation after the 45-year-old died following the incident in the Don John Hotel pub at around 10pm.

Police believe a number of people were involved in a fight which left Mr Hurdley with a serious head injury.

He was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A 35-year-old Maltby man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the Don Jon pub or nearby pubs on Sunday evening, or anyone with information to call South Yorkshire Police on 101. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
