Dementia pensioner Marion found dead

THE family of a pensioner with dementia who was missing for more than a week have paid tribute to her after her body was found.
Marion Scott, 83, (also known as Mary) went missing from her home in Acre Close, Market Rasen, on the evening of Thursday 27th December when it was thought she may have gone for a walk in the area of Willingham Woods - not far from Normanby by Spital and Hemswell Cliff.
Lincolnshire Police said that the body of a woman was found at about 1.30pm on Monday 7th January on land in the Sixhills area near Market Rasen and Normanby-by-Spital - a short distance from where she went missing
Later that day, her grandson, Alex Stork, took to Facebook via West Lindsey councillor and local resident Alan Caine, to issue the following message: “I can confirm the sad news that my Grandma Mary Scott was found passed away.”
“I believe this news is already public but would like to confirm the speculations.”
“On behalf of the family I would like to once again thank everybody sincerely for their efforts and support over the last week-and-a-half.”
“The way the community has come together has been phenomenal. It has been fitting for a phenonenal lady.”
He added: “R.I.P. Wife, Mother, Grandmother & friend - Mary Scott.”
Coun Caine said: “It has been mentioned on here about the posters for Mary - if people could now kindly collect these, to save the family any heartache if they see these around towns, it would be very much appreciated.”
“Thank you to everyone. Words cannot express how the family must feel. And thank you once again for everyone’s time and help.”
Lincolnshire Police spokesman James Newall said that a Home Office pathologist is due to perform a post mortem examination on Wednesday 9th December, with formal identification to follow on Thursday.
In the days leading up to Marion’s body being found, police conducted an extensive search of local areas with dogs and helicopters, as well as making use of social media sites, television and local press coverage.
Many local residents and landowners also volunteered to participate in the search for Marion, who had dementia and suffered from memory loss.
