The Maltby Safer Neighbourhood Team joined forces with Rotherham Council, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and residents for a day of action.

The operation took place around Berseford Road, Nelson Road, Farquhar Road, Tickhill Road, Glenncairn Court and Highfield Park.

Officers and young people conducted a speeding operation along Tickhill Road, after residents had complained about speeding motorists.

The officers also gave the youngsters road safety advice and booklets, and high visibility vests were handed out to newsagents for their staff to use when delivering papers.

There was a drop in surgery at Glenn Cairn Community Centre, where residents could go and talk to officers.

Residents and officers from Rotherham Council collected litter and waste and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue visited homes offering safety advice.

Officers patrolled the area and gave crime prevention advice to residents, and police and council officers visited streets identified as having issues with antisocial behaviour.

Two people were arrested for cannabis production at a property on Birks Holt Drive after 20 plants and a hydroponics setup was found at the property.

A man was cautioned for possession of cannabis after officers found a small quantity of cannabis on him.

“It was a really positive day with a fantastic turn out from the community,” said PC Anna Perry.

“We hope to continue these action days and are really keen to hear from people about any issues or concerns they have in their area.”

“It was great to see the residents taking pride in their community,” she added.
