A PATERNITY row got out of hand resulting in a smashed window and an assault, a court heard.

Worksop magistrates were told how Marc Kelly, 30, of Lowtown View, Worksop, was shouting outside the house of his pregnant partner in the early hours of 20th December 2012, before punching a glass door panel and smashing it.

The glass hit the victim’s head, causing Kelly to be charged with assault. He admitted it, along with criminal damage.

Defending, Jamie Ratcliffe said his client had earlier been at the pub.“Someone suggested the child might be someone else’s. He went about this completely the wrong way to try and find out the truth.”

Kelly was ordered to pay £340 in fines, costs, compensation and a victim surcharge.
