Consultation on hospital
Plans to close the nearest hospital which provides congenital heart services for Lincolnshire children will now be fully reviewed, thanks to people power and the county’s health watchdog.
An official challenge was made to the Government by the Health Scrutiny Committee for Lincolnshire, resulting in the Secretary of State for Health sanctioning an immediate full review into proposals to close the Glenfield facility in Leicestershire. Under previous proposals, children needing congenital heart services living in Lincolnshire would alternatively need to travel to Newcastle, Birmingham or Great Ormond Street, London. The review is to be completed by February 2013.
