Chef’s drink drive ban

A CLOWNE chef was caught over the limit when he went to help a drink-driving pal involved in a crash.

Jonathon Fretwell, 35, of Boughton Lane, initially told police his dad had driven him to the scene of the accident but immediately came clean.

Chesterfield magistrates heard that police found an unoccupied Vauxhall Vectra parked in a lay-by near the Van Dyk Hotel. They then saw a Honda in a field on the opposite side of Worksop Road, with damage to its bonnet and front bumper.

Fretwell was standing beside the Honda and gave a reading almost double the 35mcgs drink-drive limit. He was fined £314 and handed a 16-month road ban, and apologised for the offence via his solicitor.
