Woodsetts soldier Gavin Elliott

Woodsetts soldier Gavin Elliott

A CHARITY night is being held at Ye Olde Bell Hotel next week in memory of a Woodsetts soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Sue Ellis, restaurant supervisor at the hotel in Barnby Moor, lost her 19-year-old nephew Gavin Elliott.

Private Elliot was killed in action as a result of a gunshot wound whilst on foot patrol on Helmend province in Afghanistan in September 2009.

Sue together with her sister and brother-in-law Jayne and James Elliott - Gavin’s parents - and a team of friends are holding a 1940s evening in his memory.

The event, of Friday 9th November, will feature 1940s memorabilia and patriotic decor and include a two course meal, sing along and dancing with Leenie-Jayne.

Money raised at the event will go to the Royal British Legion.

Tickets are £27.50 and are available from the hotel on 01777 705121.
