Charity casino in aid of Marie Curie

KIND hearted fundraisers at a town supermarket will be having the odd gamble after organising a charity casino night.

Members of Gainsborough’s Tesco Charity Committee, based at the Beaumont Street superstore, are hoping to raise around 3,500 from the effort.

The event is arranged for Friday 5th September, at the Weston Rooms, starting at 7pm and will see traditional casino games like a roulette wheel, blackjack tables, craps and Caribbean stud poker along with a giant Jenga, Connect Four and air hockey games.

“As part of the charity committee we have organised car washes and car boots but nothing on this scale before,” said organiser Stuart Wraith, who is a customer assistant at the store.

“It has been a bit of a learning curve for us and there is lots to do but we are hoping the night will be a big success.”

Money raised from the night will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care - Tesco’s chosen charity for 2008. Currently the committee have raised 400 towards their final total.

The team are also hoping to attract local businesses who could donate non-cash prizes for the evening.

“We will be needing some prizes for the casino night and would appeal for any local businesses to get in touch,” added Stuart, 24, of Stanley Street.

“We also hope the people of Gainsborough will come and have an evening of fun and games while raising money for this worthy cause.”

“We will be putting posters up in the store advertising the event to our customers,” he said.

Tickets will cost 10 and will be available from Stuart from Wednesday 23rd June.

To donate any prizes or for tickets for the effort contact Stuart via email at:stuw2k@hotmail.com or on his mobile 07789 888451.
