Charity brass concert

THORESBY Colliery Band took part in a charity concert recently raising £2317 for the Nottinghamshire Hospice.

The concert at The Royal Albert Hall also featured some of the county’s best primary school choirs.

As well as joining the band for seven songs, each choir had the chance to take centre stage and perform a song of their own choice.

The varied musical programme included modern favourites such as Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen and classical pieces such as Toccata in D Minor by Bach.

The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all the performers and the 500-strong audience rewarded the fantastic musicianship with a standing ovation.
