MARCHES against the closure of Worksop and Retford community ambulance stations will take place next week.

Public services union UNISON has organised the protests to campaign against changes being proposed by East Midlands Ambulance Service.

The marches will take place in Retford on Thursday 18th October and Worksop on Wednesday 24th October.

The procession will set off from the King and Miller pub on North Road, Retford, at 10am next Thursday.

The route will take in Morrisons, Bridgegate Surgery, the bus station, Asda, market square and the town hall, Retford Hospital and Retford Ambulance Station.

Details for the Worksop march are still to be finalised.

“Our mission is to gather support and raise awareness for the campaign to save our community ambulance stations,” said Emma Bardney, EMASUnison event steward for Retford and Worksop.

“I’m surprised how many people still do not know about the proposals to close their local ambulance stations and how it might impact on them.”

Emma urged people to join the march and also sign an online petition at Online Petition
