CAMPAIGN group Save Our Services Bassetlaw has featured on national television.

Channel 4 News interviewed founder member and former Mayor of Retford Adele Mumby for its 7pm show last Friday, 19th October.

Mum-of-six Adele is also a volunteer community first responder, and was speaking out against EMAS’ latest plans to streamline the service.

“I hope it will have helped the cause for us to appear on national TV,” said Adele.

“I want to tell as many people as possible about what is happening here in Bassetlaw to our ambulance service.”

“My background was in the medical field before I came into politics and I can see what is happening.”

“Services in Bassetlaw and Doncaster are being cut and transferred to Sheffield and other big centres.”

“We have a facility here in Bassetlaw that can cater for all these things but the money is being put elsewhere.”

Adele said the Channel 4 News crew filmed the SOS team protesting outside Retford Ambulance Station.

She told reporters: “When you dial 999 you want an ambulance there and then, not in an hour. It’s not about saving the stations it’s about saving the whole service.”

Save Our Services was formed by local residents who campaigned to save services being cut at Bassetlaw Hospital.
