BREAKING NEWS: Gainsborough paedophile jailed for child porn offences

Phillip Morgan has admitted child porn charges

Phillip Morgan has admitted child porn charges

A PAEDOPHILE from Gainsborough has been jailed for possessing over 400 ‘horrendous’ images of child pornography when he appeared in court today (Friday 25th January)

Phillip Morgan, 46, was from Saxilby but has been residing at Sanders Maltings, Gainsborough since he was charged.

He admitted nine charges of making an indecent photograph of a child on dates between 13th November 2009 and 4th April 2011 and also pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited image of a child and two charges of possessing a total of 415 indecent images of a child on 12th May 2011.

Some of the images were of the most extreme form - level 5 - and included ‘the rape and torture of children.’

On internet forums and chat rooms he made requests such as ‘Do you have any hardcore pre-teen pics - the harder the better’ and ‘the younger the better’.

He also bragged on chat rooms about having sexually abused children and infants.

Lincoln Crown Court also heard how that through email addresses and user names that Morgan set up, he tried to shift the blame onto his business partner Paul Metcalfe - with whom he ran cleaning company Soniclean in Lincoln.

The images were downloaded to a laptop found in the Monk’s Road office.

Defending Morgan in mitigation, Mr Cramner-Brown told the court that “Prison would be a painful experience for him.”

Sentencing the father of three to 10 months in prison and a 10-year sexual offence order, Judge Samson told Morgan: “You clearly had a perverted interest in children.”

“You were participating in their abuse by viewing it and by requesting others to make it for your consumption.

He continued: “These images included the rape and torture of children.”

“Only a custodial sentence is appropriate.”

Speaking to The Standard after the trial, Morgan’s former business partner Mr Metcalfe said: “I’ve known him for 15 years, and I’m devastated that he could try to implicate one of his best friends and business colleagues.”

“He hasn’t been part of the business since he was charged, and he has caused us problems as well as the personal distress of having my house raided.”

“I feel let down, but relieved that this is all over and that I can move on.”
