Boy, 9, hit by car at Hemswell Cliff

A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy is in hospital with serious head injuries after he was hit by a car at Hemswell Cliff, near Gainsborough, last night (Friday 7th September).

The collision happened at around 6pm on the A631 near Hemswell Cliff.

The boy, who was on foot, was hit by a black Ford Escort car driven by a man from the Doncaster area.

He suffered head injuries and was air lifted to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Police said his condition was serious but not life threatening.

The A631 was closed for three hours between Caenby Corner Roundabout and Harpswell roundabout while the car was recovered.

It re-opened at around 9pm.

"Anyone who was in the area around 6pm and saw either the black Ford Escort or the young nine-year-old boy prior to the collision, or saw the collision itself should call us on the non-emergency 101 number," said Insp Colin Hague, of Lincolnshire Police.

The incident number is 351 of 7th September 2012.
