A 23-year-old drink-driver, who was caught nearly three times over the legal limit, has been banned from the road for three years.

Richard Brown, from Greenway, Retford, was stopped by police on Goosemoor Lane around 10.30pm on Friday 17th August.

The court heard how Brown came close to hitting the kerb several times and staggered out of the van.

He gave a reading of 90mcgs in 100mls of breath.

David Verity, defending, said Brown was drinking at a friend’s house before he received a distressing call from his partner.

“Without thinking he got in the car to drive home,” he added.

Magistrates also fined him £350.
