Appeal after stone smashes through train window near Kiveton

British Transport Police is appealing for information after a window was smashed by a stone thrown at a train.
The train was travelling between Kiveton Bridge and Woodhouse stations when the incident happened around 6.30pm on Friday 14th September.
The train was the 18.24 Lincoln to Sheffield service which travels through the area.
PC Steven Jacques of British Transport Police, said: “A passenger alerted the driver after they saw the stone smash through the train window and land in the vestibule area. Luckily no one was injured, but this could have been very serious.”
“This sort of behaviour is extremely dangerous and this offence could have easily resulted in a passenger being seriously injured, not just the considerable damage to the train, which as a result had to be taken out or service to be fixed.”
“Those responsible are not only risking serious injury to passengers and staff, they are also risking an appearance in court and a criminal conviction.”
“We have made local enquiries and searched the area immediately after the incident but to no avail, and would encourage anyone with information that could assist our investigation to come forward and talk to us.”
“I would urge anyone who knows anything about this incident or think they might know those involved to contact police as a matter of urgency.”
