Annual carol concert for emergency services
MORE than 120 guests enjoyed the annual carol concert between South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
The event marked the Christmas festivities at the South Yorkshire-based community safety centre, based in Hellaby.
Led by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue pastor, John Freeman, the service included performances by the South Yorkshire Police Band, pupils from Northfields Infant and Junior School, and Cassis, a ladies barbershop quartet.
Visitors included South Yorkshire Chief Constable David Crompton, Police and Crime Commissioner Sean Wright and Chief Fire Officer Jamie Courtney.
A raffle at the event raised a total of £268 for In2Change, a local charity that works to give resettlement support to young offenders and provide a range of safety advice and guidance to the community.
Temporary Superintendent Paul Varley from the South Yorkshire Police Community Safety Department, based at Lifewise said: “The event was a great success and was enjoyed by all.”
“Since opening the Lifewise Centre in Hellaby, Rotherham in 2011 this is the second carol service we have hosted and we hope to continue this tradition for many years to come.”
Chief Fire Officer Jamie Courtney said; “This was a fantastic event, and was an enjoyable evening for all who attended.”
“It had a real community spirit and was an excellent start to the festive season.”
