A chance for sport grants
Guardian News
Sports groups across Bassetlaw will be invited to bid for cash as part of a major £100,000 project to boost sports provision in the district.
The Club Changer scheme will allow groups to bid for grants ranging from £10,000 tp £25,000 to help improve their community facilities.
The match-funding programme for sports groups seeks to build on the success of last year’s Bassetlaw Games.
Leisure and cultural services manager Peter Clark said the scheme would provide local groups with the opporunity to develop their own facilities and maximise exclusive funding opportunities.
“The Bassetlaw Games saw more than 50,000 people take part in over 28 different sports from more than 40 different organisations,” he said.
“This shows just how effective we can be when we work in partnership together and we want this success to continue.”
Portfolio holder for environment and leisure Coun Julie Leigh said the project would help to continue the legacy of Bassetlaw Games for future generations.
“It would be shameful if we ignored the success of last year’s games,” she said.
“There is a strong and varied mix of sports in Bassetlaw and we will continue to support local clubs to help achieve even more.”
