OFFICERS from Lincolnshire Police were sent to London to help deal with the riots.

“We can confirm that at the request of the Metropolitan Police, Lincolnshire on the evening of Monday 8th August, sent a full Police Support Unit of 26 officers to work in London who continue to be there,” said Lincs Police spokesperson Debra Tinsley.

She continued: “One Police Support Unit was deployed to assist Nottinghamshire officers late on the evening of Tuesday 9th August, once it had been established that their presence in Lincolnshire was not required. That team has now returned to Lincolnshire.”

This has not affected our ability to provide policing in Lincolnshire or respond to any incidents of disorder or disturbance should they arise within the county. Locally, we will use our existing communication channels to engage with communities.”

She added: “Officers will be reporting any activity or info which suggests there may be even the slightest risk of issues arising within Lincolnshire, and we’re prepared to respond should this occur.”
