AN INVESTIGATION into a bomb scare where a ‘suspicious package’ was found in Walkerith, near Gainsborough could take months until results are released.

Experts safely removed the package found by a member of the public on the side of Walkerith Road on the morning of Wednesday 25th May.

Police attended the scene, secured the road and closed it off before the package was safely removed by specialists by midnight and the road was reopened.

It was previously reported that results would take a matter of weeks, but now a Lincolnshire Police spokesman has said: “The wait for forensic results from analysis could take a few months due to the general backlog of forensic investigations and the national team having to prioritise.”
