Bones found in a garden in Lincolnshire have been confirmed as human, police say.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police confirmed an enquiry was underway and the bones have been sent for tests to establish the age of them and whether they are from an ancient burial.

The bones were discovered by the owner of the property, in Stickney, while they were digging a hole in their garden on Sunday afternoon.

The spokesman said carbon dating tests can take some time to complete so it may be several days before more is known about the bones.
