This is the headstone design that a heartbroken couple have chosen to be placed at their daughter’s grave.

Keith and Emma Hampson, of Crewe Road, Bircotes, wanted to have the Disney character ‘Eeyore’ on the headstone at their daughter’s grave but Harworth and Bircotes Town Council initially turned down the plans.

However, the decision has now been reversed after a petition received 2,000 signatures in just 24 hours.

The husband and wife received the devastating news that their daughter, Evelyn Barbara, had no heartbeat and had died on 19th January 2015 when Emma was 37-weeks pregnant

Three days later, Evelyn was born at Bassetlaw Hospital and Keith and Emma were able to spend the next 48 hours with her before laying her to rest at Harworth Cemetery.

The couple were notified that their plans for their daughter’s headstone had been approved this week after a council meeting.

Here’s what you said on the council’s decision to reverse the decision:

Samantha Claytor posted: “Fantastic! Hope the people who rejected in the 1st place are ashamed of themselves this poor couple suffered enough without the pettiness of some people.”

Jane Hill wrote: “Common sense prevails ...... eventually !!!”

Ann Cooke Whittaker said: “I should think so too ....God bless them all”

Lesley Milner posted: “Keith and Emma I’m so glad they did a u turn. Brilliant news.”

Beverley Simons wrote: “Fantastic news, so happy for the lovely couple.”
