Staff from a care home in Barnby Moor have taken part in a sponsored walk for charity following the illness of one of their colleagues.
Staff from HC-One Barnby Court raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support following the recent illness of the home’s laundry assistant, June Stringer.
Barnby Court home manager Margaret Greaves was joined by carers Babs Horsfield, Lynn Kirton, Arron Ellis and Claire Howard on the walk.
They started off at the home in Barnby Moor and after several hours, the group arrived at Bawtry where they were met by June.
June was incredibly touched by the fundraising event and thanked her colleagues for their wonderful initiative.
The group had a catch up with June whilst everyone had some much needed refreshments after their fundraising efforts.
The Barnby Court staff were able to raise an impressive £300 for MacMillan Cancer Support.
HC-One Barnby Court care home manager, Margaret Greaves, said: “We were keen to do something in June’s honour and for a cause that affects so many people.”
“The support we received has really taken us aback – we are really proud to have contributed to such an important cause.”
HC-One regional managing director, Pam Finnis said fundraising efforts like this show just how kind the staff are at their homes.
She said: “HC-One aims to provide the kindest care and one of the most important parts of that is having the kindest staff. “
“Fundraising activities like this one are a great example of that. HC-One congratulates Barnby Court staff on this great initiative – it is very touching.”
Similar activities regularly take place in HC-One homes across the country.
