Children at All Saints Primary School in Harworth got their first taste of playing authentic African rhythms on African D’jembe drums as part of a special D’jembe day.

The instruments will be used by all children in the school starting at Foundation Stage right through to Year Six.

Head teacher, Ms Kerrie Clowes, has invested money in new musical instruments to be used in class, alongside a new music course called Charanga

D’jembe specialist Victor Scott from Nottingham came into the school and ran workshops showing the children basic drumming techniques and putting together short rhythmic patterns based on African rhythms.
