Get involved in Octoberfest

PLANS are already underway for this year’s Octoberfest in Gainsborough, and you are being invited to take part.

Last year’s Octoberfest saw a month long calendar jam-packed with events and activities including dance, theatre, comedy, craft fayres and culminating in the Gainsborough Beer and Folk festival.

Organiser Gary Cooke said that he hoped this year’s event would be bigger and better than ever and encouraged everyone in the Gainsborough community to get involved.

“Gainsborough Town Council is delighted with the number of organisations already taking part,” said Gary. “However, there is no limit on this number and I am eager for other organisations to join in the event. Last year over 30 different organisations actively took part in the event.”

He continued: “This is an ideal way to freely promote your organisations events and identity. Additionally, it helps raise awareness of Gainsborough itself and to point out that Gainsborough is the place to be for something to do in October.”

“Why not take the opportunity to join the 2011 Octoberfest and help publicise your group’s activities whilst promoting the town as well?”

Gary added: “Gainsborough Town Council does much of the work for you. You don’t even need to come to the meetings if you don’t want. All you need to do is just supply me with the details of any event you can put on in October and I’ll help publicise it through the media and the Octoberfest brochure and it’s all for free.”

The next meeting is on Wednesday 2nd March at 7.30pm at Richmond House, Gainsborough.
