Shoppers in Gainsborough will have a brand new Lincolnshire Co-op Food Store by the end of the year.

Work is set to start in May on a new £1m food store on the site of the former Jack and Jill pub on Heapham Road.

The new outlet will replace Lincolnshire Co-op’s current store on Queensway.

All existing staff will relocate to the site and six new jobs will be created.

Customers will benefit from a wider range of groceries, chilled and frozen food products as well as an in-store bakery and an ATM.

Twenty three car parking spaces, including four disabled bays, will be available for customers of the new food store which will be open from 7am until 10pm, seven days a week.

Lincolnshire Co-op Store Development Manager Matthew Wilkinson, said: “We’re excited to begin work on our new food store in Gainsborough which will offer the community a wider range of products and easier access.”

“With building set to start soon we hope that by the end of November we’ll be able to welcome our first customers.”
