Shops and businesses in Gainsborough are coming together to stage a ‘spooktacular’ day of Halloween fun across the town later this month.
On Saturday, October 31 the town centre and Marshall’s Yard shopping centre will be putting on a day of family fun with plenty of spooky activities for everyone.
The Independents’ Group in Gainsborough is in charge, with the support of Gainsborough Town Council and West Lindsey District Council.
Alison Hall, centre manager of Marshalls Yard, said: “We absolutely love Halloween here in Gainsborough and everyone has worked together to put on this fantastic free event across the whole town. There’s lots going on throughout the day and some new attractions this year so please come and join us and don’t forget to bring your best scary costume for the Fancy Dress Parade.”
The fun gets underway from 9am in the town centre where there will be sci-fi characters, Halloween-themed games, market stalls, fairground rides, music and dance.
The fancy dress competition sign up stall is also in the town centre and youngsters wanting to enter should register before 3pm. At this time the fancy dress parade will begin from the town centre and make its way toward Marshall’s Yard with the judges picking out their favourites.
The winners will then be announced in the yard with top prizes to be handed out. From 12-6pm in Marshall’s Yard there will be fun filled fairground, with the addition of a haunted Halloween themed market.
Visitors will be given the chance to take part in a free pumpkin design competition from 2-5pm in the yard.
And there will be performances from 3.30pm in the yard on the stage area with dance acts, live music and the traditional flaming fire act with a firework display on the Riverside closing the event at 6pm.
Chairman of the Independents in Gainsborough Group and owner of Barron Bou, Dawn Barron, said: “There will be so much going on for all the families across Gainsborough. We are looking forward to joining our events together throughout the day, and finishing with the grand finale at the Riverside for Fireworks.”
