Gainsborough: Royal British Legion want to hear your First WorldWar stories for cenetenary church service

The 4th of August marks the 100th anniversary of the day the First World War started and it ended on 11th November 1918, Armistice Day.

Michael Wragg, from the Gainsborough branch of the Royal British Legion, would like to hear from you prior to the service about any First World War stories you have to tell.

Michael said: “We are looking to see if anyone has got any personal stories or tributes from the war especially on its impact of both the war front or the home front.”

“We are aware that no one is living from that era but people could have letters or photographs.”

“Or there could be stories that have been told to them so often they know them off by heart.”

“We are appealing for people who have such information.”

The service will be taking place at All Saints Parish Church in Church Street, Gainbsorough at 10am.

The Royal British Legion help serving members of the Armed Forces, ex-Service men and women and their families, now and for the rest of their lives.

Nearly everyone in the UK has an ancestor directly affected by the First World War and all of us live with its effects today.
