Chairman Barry Gilyead introduced new member Chris Wrench to he club and, following this, a DVD by member Michael Knight was shown entitled Man in a Punt showing how the River Trent started from a spring in Staffordshire, continuing on through Stoke and Burton, where its water aided the ottery and brewing industries, continuing onwards to Nottingham and Newark, where it joins what is known locally as Killowatt Valley and supplies water for the power stations.

After arriving at Cromwell Lock it then becomes a tidal river, and on to Gainsborough, which at one time was a large port, even having its own custom house. After this it becomes much larger as it continues its journey onward until finally joining the Humber and out into the North Sea.

Members were then reminded of the ladies lunch on 5th February with final bookings to be in by next Monday.
