The group met on Monday 2nd December at Morton Village Hall when the programme for the day was a presentation entitled A Tudor Minstrel by Shaun Clark. He was dressed in the attire of the 15th century, in keeping with the music he plays.
Shaun is well-known for his performances at Gainsborough Old Hall where he brings concerts and accompanies events. Apart from this he is an expert on the musical instruments of that time, the music played and the origins of such music. He played many different instruments with accompanying explanation including the dulcimer, lute, guitar, psaltery and the bagpipes among several others. The circumstances under which these would be used were explained, and musical excerpts brought, with Francis singing some of the songs. Shaun’s talk and playing demonstrated both his knowledge and his musical skills, along with his versatility in playing so many varied instruments.
