Gainsborough: Morton Corner gets the In Bloom treatment

Jo Biddle said: “Greg Skinner and his team from the Golf Club worked most of the day to refurbish this neglected corner of Gainsborough and they will be continuing to work on and maintain this area through the year.”

“The wooden bench has been refurbished and plans are in place to plant various shrubs and flowering plants in late spring/early summer with the hope of bringing this corner of the town back to life.”

“Paul and his team from ISS provided a wood chipper for the day so that all materials taken from the site were re-cycled and will be used elsewhere within the town.”

After achieving silver in 2013 Gainsborough In Bloom is aiming to do even better in this year’s competition and go for gold. The committee is asking the community to dig in and help the town get to the top spot in the prestigious awards scheme.

The group of unpaid volunteers have been working tirelessly for over five years now to improve the look of the town.

As well as volunteers the group also desperately need gardening tools to help them with their projects and tools can be collected or dropped off with a member of the Marshall’s Yard security team.
