Gainsborough man charged for string of burglary and robbery offences

A 26-year-old Gainsborough man has been remanded in custody for a string of alleged burglary and robbery offences.

Michael Edward Lewis, 27, of Riseholme Road in Gainsborough, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court yesterday (1 August) charged with four burglaries and two robberies. He will reappear at court again on Tuesday, August 30.

The alleged burglaries took place in Waterworks Street, Caenby Close, Wheeldon Street and Elsham Walk. The alleged robberies occurred in Primrose Street and Trinity Street.

Simon Outen, Inspector for Gainsborough, said: “This man has been charged for a series of offences which have left people out of pocket and without valued possessions.

“Due to the seriousness and volume of these crimes, officers have continued to pursue him on a daily basis and are pleased that he has been remanded in custody, bringing a respite to the local community from his actions.”
