Following the completion of redevelopment work Gainsborough United Reformed Church will be holding a Rededication Service at 10.30am on Sunday 5th October.
The historic church on Gladstone Street was originally built as a memorial to John Robinson, Pastor to the Pilgrim Fathers.
Since building works began in June, the sanctuary has been transformed into a multi-purpose church and community space.
Removal of an internal wall and staircase have created room for a spacious café/meeting area leading into the remodelled sanctuary which include a new kitchen and WCs.
The church is very grateful to have benefited from a number of grants to enable them to proceed with the alterations.
These include a £49,500 grant from WREN, a not for profit business which awards grants to community, environmental and heritage projects across the UK from funds donated by FCC Environment for the Landfill Communities Fund.
Grants were also received from the East Midlands Synod of the United Reformed Church, the Garfield Weston Foundation and All Churches Trust.
Revd Dr. Gillian Poucher, Minister of Gainsborough United Reformed Church, said: “We’re very grateful to WREN, the East Midlands Synod of the United Reformed Church and All Churches Trust for their grants towards the project.”
“Churches were designed to be at the heart of the community.”
Any groups interested in using the premises should contact Lettings Secretary Steven Pikett at email@example.com or call 07507 876904.
Anyone is welcome to attend the Service of Rededication.
